Serena Wider was born in Rio de Janeiro and has spent her life moving — Brasília, London, Oxford, Copenhagen. Each place asked something different of her. Each required a different way of reading a room, of understanding what was said and what wasn't, of knowing when to hold ground and when to adapt. It was, at different moments, exhilarating and unsettling. And it taught her something that no framework had quite named: that contradictions don't need resolving. They need understanding.
She is a consumer researcher by training — someone who has spent over a decade investigating how culture and language shape the way people think, decide, and make meaning. Her work has taken her from academic research to brand strategy, market insight, and innovation. At each turn, she found herself returning to the same question: how do the tensions we inhabit end up shaping who we are — and what does that mean at the intersection of cultural identity, behaviour, and what organisations are really asking of the people they serve?
In her doctoral work, she put a precise intellectual frame around what living between cultures had long made intuitive: that the most interesting tensions in human life are not problems to solve but structures to inhabit. She called it congruent contradiction. NOZ was built from that insight.
NOZ works deliberately. Rigorously. From the inside out.
The organisations NOZ works with already know what they stand for. What NOZ offers is the rigour to act from that — under pressure, at scale, without losing what made them irreplaceable.
